I purchased this kit to enable me to strip the bike and give it a thorough service but was hindered by the lack of special tools. My primary objective was a set of tools that could strip the crank, gear and chain mechanism. I have most of the kit to be fit for purpose with the following observations.

First off, the crank removal tool is effective but beware you may have to remove the plunger that slots into the square in the crank as it is too big to go inside. Once removed and the tools locked in place no problem, I suspect the previous reviewer failed to remove this.

My next big gripe is the rear gear cartridge removal tool; this is supposed to be `Shimano` compatible. Sorry, it isn`t, the splines are too big to fit into the cartridge. I tried this on all my bikes with the same result. I eventually out of frustration used my bench grinder to reduce the profile of the splines, now it fits.
Overall, not a bad kit.

If you have a shimano-based road bike and don't have (m)any cycling specific tools or want a kit to take on holiday, this represents good value IF you have some idea of what you are doing. I bought this as deal of the week and just one of the tools in this kit cost two thirds of what I paid for the kit. Based on a Bike Hand tool I bought a few years ago, Bike Hand were not my first choice for tools, but looking at this kit I was pleasantly surprised.

Very Good Home Repair Stand
First I should say that the delivery was beyond expectation. I live in France and ordered this from Black Dog Bikes through Amazon UK on a Sunday night (so to all intense and purposes, it was Monday morning), the repair stand arrived on the Wednesday morning, that is top service.

It took little longer than 5 minutes to set up the stand and the bike hanging from its saddle post. This stand with its four leg quadpod design is not going to topple (make sure you set one of the legs dead centre front) even if you put some pressure on the bike.

My bike is a tourer and it took the weight easily and you get no more movement from the stand and bike when turning the peddles than on a Park Tool stand. The grip of the clamp feels secure and is fully adjustable for many frame sizes. The latest models clamp (as with the two telescopic tube clamps) comes with a quick release handle.

My only criticism is the tool/parts tray. In its self the tray is OK, it has a...

Great bike stand
I don't usually write review about stuff but this product genuinely impressed me so I decided to write this review.
Lots of stuff to talk about so I will start from the top down.

-the quick release clamp head: this bit actually holds the bike so you'd expect it to be sturdy, it is. The plastic is surprisingly strong but not too hard to break or mark the frame. It is shaped like two V's so it will allow you to operate brake and gear cables, on my bike it restricts the brakes but this is no problem as when working on rear brake I can just use seat post instead of top tube. The quick release is very easy to operate; you just screw the wing nut at the bottom to thickness of tube and use the quick release. the clamp is mounted on a good quality metal post so it can be rotated 360 degrees and also brought in and out so to allow use of the pedals.

-tool tray: I thought this was a bit naff and useless but decided to put it on. It clamps around the main tube so it...
