Excellent but only if using enough packaging
I bought this bag to travel to Malta. My initial thought was it was too big for the bike i had but once I had packed it properley it was the right size. The only reason for giving it 4 stars was that it could do with some wheels on it. The reviews saying that this bag is useless on flights is nonesense. It is down to the way the bike is packed and how the space in the bag is filled. I used lots and lots of bubble wrap and kept everything secure so the wheels were either side of the frame and cable tied to it, but they were also bubble wrapped so they would not move much.

All in all a good bike bag as long as you pack it properley without much movement. big and bulky at the airport and sometimes difficult to transport but i would definately use it again. Worth the money.

Excellent quality for the price paid, it has one huge space for the frame and two pockets for your wheels. The material feels tough with a strong sturdy zipper and the carrying handles make it easy to sling over your shoulder. It did suffer slight damage in the form of a very small hole but I think that was down to the way it was treated by the airline rather than the quality of the bag. You will have to protect your frame inside even though though the bag is padded. I used bubble wrap and cardboard. You might want to add a few fragile or treat with care stickers.

Half the price of any other bags i had seen. clipped straight onto my generic cycle rack in seconds. The detachable rucksack is a good size, i get all my fresh veg and meat for the week in it. the panniers are smaller than they look but coupled with the rucksack the combination is big enough for a week cycling and camping (fair weather only) The whole combination is fully waterproof and well made. well worth the money.

Good Quality, Versatile ..... but small for big Shopping trips
I bought these panniers to replace ones stolen with my old bike. My old ones were 54 litre triple panniers (Agu 140) which I used for shopping as the main function. These allowed me to put 2 large carriers straight in either side pannier bag and either bread, large cereal box or another large carrier in the top pannier.

These are 14 litre smaller, but I thought it would still be OK. Unfortunately the side pockets on the the Avenir panniers don't allow me to do this, It is a stuggle to pack partly due to the reduced dimensions of the side panniers, and that the top of the panniers (the rucksack part) overhangs the side pockets making it hard to drop the bags in.

There are plenty of positives though.

The panniers are stylish and the extremely well made and thanks to the 600 denier material are sturdy, strong and keep their shape. Although not yet tested in the rain I am confident the water to stay out. The zips on the pockets are sturdy, a little...

A solid, verstile carrier but is being pushed to the limit with 4 bikes
With a Center Parcs holiday looming, I needed to get 4 bikes on the car with one bike being a small childs. The carrier itself is well built, has great flexibility through the two sets of pivots (the frame itself and the bike arm) that are toothed wheels and simple cantilevers to open and lock, and six straps to secure it in place. The hooks on the straps stayed firm and didn't chip the paint but their plastic covering was a little too 'hard plastic' for me and I'll be looking to place or glue a foam pad to them in future (especially with new car just around the corner!) There's an extra strap too to pull the bikes firmly onto the frame but I think it's way too short.

I drove the 150 miles or so, each way, with steady motorway speeds of 70+ mph, with the four bikes on the rack and it stayed firmly in place. However, I did have a pack of four webbing straps previously purchased and I made use of these to further strap the bikes to the frame and (using the toggles included...

Good quality item, but fitting instructions are poor
The bike carrier is well made and exactly as shown in the picture, but the fitting instructions are very poor, and after several hours my husband and I gave up out of frustration - none of the example styles in the instructions related to our car, which is like the photograph on the website, and it is only by looking at how this is fitted is it possible to work out how to fit the carrier. In addition, even though it came as "ready to fit", the strapping had been inserted the wrong way round, so needed rethreading. The technical terms used in the fitting instructions are not written for a first time user, and overall were difficult to follow.
In addition, even though it is a 4 bike carrier, the combined weight of our bikes would exceed the max capacity, so we can only fit 3 bikes at a time, with a child one in the boot - when the children's bikes get too big for this, the carrier will not serve its purpose.
