Brilliant for muddy MTB and city riding
I ride in London 5 days a week, covering about 5,000 miles a year. I've been using Crank Brothers pedals for years now, initially because they are superb on a muddy mountain bike (the mud just falls through) but latterly because they are the easiest cleat to get in and out of when riding through traffic. Granted, I am used to riding with cleats now, but I find these are simply amazing. One of the biggest problems with city riding is avoiding the idiots driving their cars, taxis, scooters and (regret to say) riding their bikes. A sudden need to put your foot down because a taxi wants to put up a fare in a cycle lane (happens all the time!) can be a problem with cleats, but the Crank Brothers design allow the foot to be removed quickly and smoothly. I love them! They are not without faults - with my distances they last about 2 years before they fall apart, but that's still about 10,000 miles for a pedal that costs just over 30 quid - I'm not complaining.

Recommended...

In principal good... but...
I have now ridden a selection of pedals and cleats (including Look, SPD and Crank Brothers) and these are by far and away my favourite system.

However, these pedals leave a lot to be desired. I have ridden them only for a few miles and already the drive side pedal has seized up considerably and the seal is being forced out from the housing. I have attempted to remove the plastic cap from teh end of the pedal, only to find it wella dn truly seized into place and therefore (by my own efforts) shredded.

If this had been fitted with a metallic cap that could actually be unscrewed I would give it 4 or 5 stars (things go wrong but if you can fix them, life is much simpler) but the sheer fact that the plastic cap will now have to be destroyed and replaced by a metal one (ordered from Asia) makes these pedals a complete waste of my time and money.

If you do buy them, I would suggest immediately stripping and checking them before using.
